Toddler Environment
Age: 18 months – 3 years
Our Toddler environment is equipped with Montessori materials designed to stimulate each child’s natural curiosity to explore and learn. Their introduction to the different areas of the Montessori Classroom (Practical Life, Mathematics, Language, Sensorial & Culture) is focused on developing three core aspects within the child that are crucial at this stage of development. These are the development of language, the development of refined movement and the development of independence. The materials allow for a natural progression of gross and fine motor skills in preparation for their transition into the preschool environment. The balance of our toddler routine is carefully structured to include singing, dancing, art, gardening, nature walks, picnics and free play in a nurturing atmosphere.
Our Directress’ assist our little ones with nappy changing and potty training and guide each child through this process with a kind, gentle approach that encourages self care and a sense of self.
Each child will transition into the pre-school environment around the age of 3 years old, however, this transition may happen at any age as we follow each child individually and only transition them into the 3-6 year old environment when they indicate that they are ready, by voluntarily starting to explore their next environment out of curiosity.
